silver success for simplehuman at 2008 Industry Awards

At the Industry Awards 2008 simplehuman® won a double whammy in the form of two silver awards for the rectangular recycler bin and sensor soap pump.

The 50L rectangular recycler is the latest addition to simplehuman’s recycling range and contains two colour-coded inner buckets to make sorting rubbish from recyclables a doddle. Not only were the judges impressed by the environmental principals behind the bin, but the space-efficient design, integrated wheels and stylish stainless steel exterior with its fingerprint-proof coating were also highly commended.

The sensor soap pump uses infrared technology to dispense soap automatically, making the hand-washing process entirely touch-free. The sensor soap pump also has an optional built-in timer, which flashes for 20 seconds after the soap is dispensed to encourage the user to lather for the full amount of time, as recommended by the World Health Organisation. Four preset volume settings allow the user to adjust the rate of flow for thicker soaps or lotions, and the pump is also suitable for use with washing up liquid. Another innovative feature is the continuous dispensing button, which makes it easy to dispense larger amounts of soap for larger chores, or dispense soap directly on pots and pans for dishwashing.

The rectangular recycler was a silver award winner in the Hardware category (sponsored by Home Hardware SouthWest) and the sensor soap pump won its silver award in the Kitchenware category (sponsored by Home & Gift).

Reflecting on the company’s latest success, simplehuman Commercial Director Kevin Clark said that he was delighted that, for the third year running, simplehuman’s tools for efficient living had come up trumps with the judges. "We're always looking for ways to make life easier for people at home, so it’s great to have our products recognised for doing exactly this. The rectangular recycler and sensor soap pump are easy ways for homeowners to be both green and clean!"

The winners were announced at the 2008 Industry Awards Lunch at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, attended by 400 guests and hosted by BBC newsreader Louisa Preston.
